Becoming a committee member
This page contains information relevant to the Trinity term 2023 - Hilary term 2024 committee membership nominations cycle.
By volunteering to sit on a committee you can make a valuable and significant contribution to the running of the College. The benefits are outlined below; all key information is outlined in the TT23-HT24 Committee membership nominations and Getting involved in college governance 2023 documents above. Further information about the committee structure and function of individual committees can also be found in the Committee map, available on the committees page.
The online membership nomination form must be completed by 12 Noon on Friday 13 January 2023 (HT Week 0); elections, if they are required, are expected to take place in Week 2 of Hilary term 2023.
The benefits to you of joining a committee include:
- Getting to know how Wolfson works and having an impact on key decisions;
- Getting to know the people who run the various facets of College life;
- Developing experience in problem solving, collaborative decision-making and committee diplomacy, which you can include on your CV;
- Occasional material perks depending on the committee (e.g. formal dinners).
The benefits to the College of having you join a committee include:
- New and varied members bring fresh ways of thinking about well-established procedures and help ensure College policies reflect different perspectives;
- Student and Fellow representation can help College identify areas for improvement and development;
- Committees provide a forum for students, staff and fellows to get to know one another.
